Matthew Yancy was born April 8th, 1986, SylEm was born in 1998. In Jr. High SylEm began rapping for recreation with some of his friends. His style was, and still is, unique. He never really cared for the commercial rap. The kind where money, rims, girls, and chains was the overall topic of most songs. He hated it, he wanted to rap about more poetic things.
